How Did Abu Mazen Reply?

A Jerusalem Post editorial "Tell Abbas to stop educating for war" contained the following paragraph, including the question Abu Mazen really needs to be asked, "Why is your television glorifying suicide bombers?"

Yesterday, Bush said the first thing he would ask Abbas is "what are you going to do about the rockets" that are being fired from Gaza into Israel.

As much we appreciate this question, a more salient one might be: "Why is your television glorifying suicide bombers?"

Just last month, PA television, which Abbas brought under his personal authority when he took office, started rebroadcasting a video that ran dozens of times at the height of the suicide bombing campaign against Israel. The video begins with an imagined scene of a woman shot dead in the back by Israeli soldiers. She then rises to an Islamic paradise to join the "72 virgins" who await any suicide bomber. Next a young man swears to avenge the woman, is also killed by Israelis, and is seen joining this group of young women for his eternal reward.

This is education for anything but peace.

It's unlikely President Bush asked Abbas/Mazen the question suggested by the Jerusalem Post. As of now, there apparently hasn't been any report regarding Abbas/Mazen's response to President Bush's question, but we can all guess the answer: nada.

Abbas/Mazen most likely whined about not being able to control anything in Gaza. Of course, since he can't control Gaza, barely controls Ramallah and would be unable to fulfill any agreement he made, there's no point in negotiating with him.

If Abbas/Mazen gave any other answer, indicating he was going to do something about the barrages of Kassams launched every day from Gaza, the obvious follow up question would be: If you're prepared to do this now, why haven't you done it before?

The other obvious question: "Why do you continue to effectively do nothing about the terrorist attacks coming from the West Bank, including those launched by the terrorist group you lead, Fatah?"
